Chip talks to Metro about his collaboration with Chris Brown, his admiration for Adele and his GCSEs.
What’s the single about?
Champion, featuring Chris Brown, is empowering music to make people believe they can be anything they want to be from the day they’re born.
Are you surprised that beating up Rihanna hasn’t affected Chris Brown’s popularity?
I don’t even speak on that incident as it’s nothing to do with me. It’s a Chipmunk song, I’ve had an uplifting career and everyone wants to be part of it. All the TV and radio stations are supporting the song – it couldn’t have any more support. For me, that shows this country stands for forgiveness.
Who would be your ideal person to work with?
Adele. She’s amazingly talented. She said in an interview she really likes what me and Tinchy Stryder are doing but she’d like to hear us rap over something that isn’t a Swedish dance beat. I’ve never rapped over a Swedish dance beat though. I just want to meet her and let her understand the struggles we had coming from the underground and want to know her story as well and see if we can collaborate on a song.
