Chipmunk who’s real name is Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, is an 19 year old artist from Tottenham, North London. born on November 26 1990.
Chipmunk has been interested in music from a very young age, he took it more seriously when he was 14 years old and started Mc’ing. Chipmunk put in hardwork after school going to the local youth club, writing lyrics, balancing time between school work, revision and chasing his dream.
Chipmunk had already achieved a lot by 17 he had already made 5 mixtapes – Fresh out the oven,Guess Who, Whatever the weather 1&2 and League Of My Own, all his hardwork was finally paying off, in 2008 he won the Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards.
This was only the beginning though, in 2009 he won another MOBO the Best Hip-Hop Act , he was up against such as artists Jay-Z, Kanye West and Eminem.This was a very big achievement for Chipmunk as they are some of the people in the music industry he looks up to.
Since breaking through to mainstream, Chipmunk has had 4 top 10 singles and his Debut Album I Am Chipmunk released on 12 October 2009 , peaked at number 2 and went platinum after selling over 300,000 copies.
Chipmunk then released I Am Chipmunk again as a platinum album and added 4 bonus tracks including his single ‘until you were gone’ with Esmee Denters.
Im so proud of Chipmunk and what he has achieved, from a grime mc from tottenham to a successful mainstream artist that is opening the doors for all other young artists out there.
Chip says ‘Believe And Achieve’ he believed in himself, and chased his dream look where he is now. You can do it too…Believe And Achieve.
