Did you talk about his ex, Rihanna?
“No. But we had some in-depth conversations, it was really cool.”
Are you also mates with P. Diddy?
“I met him through Skepta. We made a track together. And when he was in town he hollered: ‘Let’s hook up!’ We hit the town and had fun, man!”
Do you ever pinch yourself?
“Nah, that would hurt. [Laughs.] But it is a lot to take in sometimes.”
Who is your ideal female celebrity?
“Pixie Lott is a beautiful person, and a great friend. Make sure you quote me right on that – I don’t want no trouble! And I smile a lot when Alexis Jordan comes on the telly. [Laughs.]”
Adele said she hated UK acts like you rapping over Swedish dance music…
“I have never done that! And I love Adele. I’d like to speak to her so she can understand the underground scene we came from. We had to struggle to be heard. So to be on commercial radio now is a blessing.”
So no hard feelings?
“No. I don’t retaliate. I grew up in the hood and the perception is that we are troublemakers. I had a point to prove that we can be heard on the radio, so I wouldn’t change a thing about the past. But for the future, I’d really love to work with Adele!”
